Barrel Muon System Background Simulation of the CMS TDR Design
نویسنده
چکیده
Backgrounds from punchthrough particles originating from minimum bias events and inclusive QCD jets in the CMS barrel muon system has been simulated using a detailed GEANT description of the Technical Design Report geometry and shielding. Rates due to punchthrough in the entrance at each muon station as well as rates of hits, produced by these punchthrough particles, are given as a function of Z-axis of the muon chambers. The origin of punchthrough hits are presented which may be used to optimise the muon chamber performance. ) On leave from INRNE, Sofia, Bulgaria

Cms Barrel Resistive Plate Chambers- Tests and Results
CMS experiment will use Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) as dedicated muon trigger detectors. The first 24 RPCs for the barrel muon system of the CMS experiment have been assembled and tested. A brief description of the cosmic muon telescope used for the tests is given. The preliminary results for the chamber performance are presented.
متن کاملThe Track-Finding Processor for the Level-1 Trigger of the CMS Endcap Muon System
The algorithms and hardware implementation of the Track-Finder for the CMS endcap muon system are described. The Track-Finder is implemented as 12 Sector Processors which identify up to the three best muons in 60 azimuthal sectors. The coverage in pseudorapidity includes the region of overlap with the barrel muon system. The track-finding algorithms are inherently 3-dimensional to achieve maxim...
متن کاملPerformance of the Barrel Muon System with Missing - Superlayers
Performance studies of the CMS barrel muon system carried out at INFN Bologna are described in detail. The expected muon momentum resolution and trigger efficiency are calculated for different configurations of the measuring superlayers. The emphasis here is not on the absolute response, but rather on the comparison of the various configurations. ) On leave from INRNE, Sofia, Bulgaria
متن کاملMuon DTBX Chamber Trigger Simulation on H2 Test Beam Data
Muon data collected at the H2 test beam during summer 1997 with the MB96 prototype of a DTBX chamber are analyzed using the level 1 trigger simulation code. The trigger chain includes BTI, TRACO and Trigger Server, which generate the muon trigger primitives in the CMS barrel system. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated and it is found in good agreement with published numbers based on s...
متن کاملCMS reconstruction improvement for the muon tracking by the RPC chambers
The contribution of Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) to muon reconstruction in CMS has been studied on a sample of muons collected in proton-proton collisions at √ s = 7 TeV at the LHC in 2011. Muon reconstruction is performed using the all-silicon inner tracker and with up to four stations of gas-ionization muon detectors. Drift Tubes and Cathode Strip Chambers detect muons in the barrel and endc...
